Sports and Cultural Immersion Programme to Perth, Australia - Day 3

We had an enriching and fun-filled day at North Cottesloe Primary School today where we participated in lessons, outdoor heritage trail and made Lamingtons. We even had the opportunity to watch the the rehearsals of their Centennial Anniversary musical. Here are some photographs of our school experience.

Later in the evening, we had Netball training where we play games and did various ball drills to help us sharpen our footwork and work on our agility.

A flying start for our Netball training

Tomorrow, we will be having our second Netball training and we are looking forward to it. After that, we will be going to Fremantle to learn about the place and visit the weekend market.
Stay tuned for more photographs and updates.

Sports and Cultural Immersion Programme to Perth, Australia - Day 2

Our day at Mosman Park Primary started with fitness lesson where we participated in different physical activities around the school. Here are some photographs of us in action.

Some of us were pleasantly surprised when we saw a "Welcome" sign stretched across the outside of the classroom made for us by the pupils of the class. We even had buddies who showed us the way around school during recess and lunch. As it is 'Free Dress Day' today, pupils were allowed to go to school in their own clothes as part of the fund-raising efforts to collect funds for Youth Focus.

While we won the friendly game, we were inspired by the determination the girls from Mosman Park Primary had as they never give up and fought hard to stay focused in the game even when we were leading.

Sports and Cultural Immersion Programme to Perth, Australia - Day 1

The girls ready for check in at Changi Airport Terminal 3.
Here we come, Perth!

Our first stop after lunch was a visit to the Western Australia Institute of Sports (WAIS). The WAIS includes training facilities such as the WAIS Gymnastics Centre, the Aquatic Centre and the Western Australia Athletics Centre for athletes in Australia.
We were guided around the facility by Gymnastics Western Australian gymnast, Olivia Vivian. Olivia shared with the girls the different aspects of her training and inspired us with her passion in gymnastics as she devotes about 30 hours a week training for the various competitions such as the Commonwealth Games. Here in this picture, Olivia was showing us the actual distance of the world record for Long Jump (Women).

At the WAIS, we were also shown the Recovery Centre that athletes make use of to aid their recovery through Cold/ Hot Water Contrast Immersion. The temperature of the cold bath is about 12 degrees celsius. Look at the expressions of the girls upon touching the cold water with their hands.

We will be starting our Sports and Cultural Immersion programme at Mosman Primary School tomorrow and we are looking forward to the day. We will have more pictures and stories about our experiences tomorrow.
